Diet Eating Out Tips – Lose Fat not your Social Life!

Diet Tips for Eating Out

Being a family person and a person who is all for living life not hiding inside and dieting, I am all for helping others to learn exactly what to chose to eat when you are eating out. There are definitely ways to lose fat without losing your social life! Just because you are now dedicated to a healthier lifestyle which also happens to lead to fat loss, it doesn’t mean you can’t go out and enjoy dinners with friends.

You can totally have your fun whilst dining out without ruining your healthy eating plan. Read below for some great tips on how to keep on track of your healthy eating and fat loss whilst having fun with family and friends.

I was at a restaurant chain recently in New Orleans with my hubby and toddler son, Tyler, looking through the massive menu in front of me – I was bewildered by all the choice and secretly cussing at all the unhealthy southern food. I was thinking lucky I know how to pick the healthier meal options otherwise I would unknowingly be choosing a 1,500 calorie meal. (a typical daily allowance not a single serving size), but then it occurred to me that most people wouldn’t know exactly what to pick for fat loss. Sure I have an educated advantage and have spent years and years researching to know what is good for the flat tummy and what is bad for the flat tummy, but many of my clients just wouldn’t know. Or even worse they think they are choosing a healthy meal but it has hidden calories or nasty ingredients in it.

We need to keep social and be able to lose weight at the same time so I have included some eating out guidelines for you so that you can regain your social life and maintain your fat loss.

Here are the principles to follow
First thing is to ask the waiter to take the breadbasket away altogether, if it sits there it is just temptation loitering. This also goes for the chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants…don’t sabotage yourself. Just say NO THANK YOU.

Simply stick to this ONE guideline and you can’t lose…just make note of what NOT to choose also!! Choose a lean protein like chicken breast, fish fillet or beef (like a Fillet Mignon) with a salad or plain vegetables. That is with sauces and dressings on the side.

SAY NO to creamy sauces and YES to tomato-based sauces. Often sauces are filled with big dollops of butter, cream, sodium and even sugar so if in doubt ask your server what is in it. SAY YES to mustard, garlic, rosemary, chili and other spices, which can provide enough taste without smothering your meal in a sugary sauce.

Regarding salads, always ask for dressing on the side, chose a balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar style dressing. Lemon wedges, seeded mustard and pepper can also provide extra taste.

Say no to any fried foods skip the fries or onion rings and anything that says tempura is battered and fried. Avoid starchy carbs like pasta, mashed potato and white bread. Most restaurants will swap pasta or fries for vegetables or a salad. Just ask. Whilst on the subject of fries…sure sweet potato fries are healthier (nutritionally speaking) than regular fries but a plate of vegetables is definitely the ultimate winner for fat loss.

Re drinks: If you are craving soda try a sparkling mineral water with extra lemon or lime wedge squeezed through, it’s very refreshing and healthy. Have a white wine spritzer to cut down on alcohol calories (1/2 wine ½ soda). Iced teas are ok in moderation and also if you don’t add artificial sweeteners which actually mess with your insulin levels and increase your appetite. The best sweetener I have found is Stevia – but it must be 100% Stevia…not truvia which is a processed version. If you don’t have access to Stevia try raw honey or just plain old raw sugar (but once again in moderation).

I get really specific and even include suggestions on exactly what to order when you are at all the big restaurant chains and fast food outlets (well if you must eat fast food you might as well chose the right thing!) so I cover places like Outback Steakhouse, Cheesecake Factory/Bistro Chili’s, Marie Calendars, PF Changs, McDonalds, Panda Express, Denny’s and about another twenty more. Also what to chose at any Thai, Chinese or Mexican restaurant.

So if you just want to know exactly what to order check it out. Like I said, you can lose fat, without having to lose your social life.

Because life is too short to spend dieting….

If you are serious about achieving your dream body and want a realistic approach to fat loss then go get the program that gives you all the short cuts and tells you exactly what tasty meals to eat – it’s a food lovers diet plan.

It is believed that the maximum required amount of body fat a healthy person can lose is about 3 to 4 pounds per week. And as you see, only obese people are likely to be able to lose this amount of fat. And an average woman weighting about 140 pounds is likely to lose a maximum of about 1 to 1.5 pounds per week.

  2. [...] Certainly keep clear of greasy food. No french-fried potatoes, no onion rings. Keep in mind that almost any food containing ‘tempura’ in the name is certainly battered and fried. Stay clear of starchy carbohydrates like noodles, mashed potato together with white bread. Virtually all eating places will trade pasta or fried potatoes for veggies or even a salad. Just make sure you ask. Whilst on the topic of fries…without a doubt sweet potato french fries are healthier (nutritionally speaking) than standard fries however a dish of fresh vegetables is most likely the supreme winner to burn fat fast.
